Love to learn. Learn to Love. Aroha ki te ako. Ako ki te Aroha.
This is our shared vision and purpose for all of us who work at Birchville School.
It is what we strive to achieve, promote, model and expect.
We feel that this vision captures two key ideas about us as a team.
Our commitment to learning and our commitment to the well being of ourselves and others.
Our GEMS are embedded within: Love to Learn (Growth) and Learn to Love (Empathy, Mana and Self Belief). We feel that the first part relates to knowledge (Ako and Wananga) and the second part is about relationships and humanity. (Whanungatanga, Manaakitanga and Tangata Whenuatanga)
We feel that learning to love is about finding the things that make us happy, that excite us, our passions and aspirations and that the more we learn the more likely we are to live full, happy lives. It is also about valuing each other and a culture of high trust, acceptance of diversity and a commitment to the team.
To us this statement captures what it is that drives us to do the job we do.
